Grade 6 students are working on 3D designs in the Makerspace! Using special 3D imaging software, their laptops, iPads, and Apple pencils, they are designing ornamental decorations that they will then export to the laser cutter for the Mexican-style Nicho boxes they are making in art class to honor a past or contemporary famous artist. Grades K-6 began their soccer unit last week! Students have been practicing dribbling, footwork, passing, shooting, and juggling the ball in class. We have been playing 3 on 3 mini-games with Grades 2-6. Next week we will start mini-games with Kindergarten and Grade 1. Throughout the month of September, Kindergarten students have been studying all things apples! They started out by watching a video that showed the journey of an apple, from being picked at the orchard to ending up in the grocery store. After the video, they did a taste test to see which type they liked best with the choices being Granny Smith, Red Delicious, or Honeycrisp. Fourth graders are beginning an investigation into rocks and minerals. Enlisting their hands and their creativity, they are seen here working on a learning tool that we’ll be able to refer back to as we progress through our unit of study. Last Friday, we held one our of favorite annual end-of-year traditions: the Grade 6 vs Faculty Kickball Game! Grade 6 students took to the field to challenge our faculty and staff players to a lively game while being cheered on by their younger peers. Both teams gave it their all, but in their end the sixth graders won the match 8-7! We were elated to bring back this fun tradition this year, and we will miss this group of amazing students....
