Gillispie Students are exposed to and come from variety of global cultures.
We believe that our interconnected world demands that we prepare students to be global citizens with an appreciation for the richness offered by diversity. The Gillispie community promotes and reflects a diversity of age, culture, ethnicity, family structure, gender and gender identity, group affiliation, national origin, physical and mental ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
We foster and embrace an environment that encourages the safe, open, and ongoing discussion of diversity so that children are aware of and open to the world around them. Through robust and thought-provoking professional development opportunities, our teachers are prepared to appropriately build, maintain, and embrace a culture of inclusiveness. Our students are exposed to a wide variety of global cultures through assemblies, visiting speakers, International Day events, literature study, and classroom activities and projects that occur within the social studies, foreign language, and arts curricula.
