Mud Play

Rain, rain, stay and play!

Mud PlayThe best part of rainy days? The muddy puddles that follow. Our friends had so much fun splashing in the mud, as was evident from the laundry we’ve sent home lately! Wearing boots and spare clothes, they laughed and danced in our outdoor classroom’s expansive mud area.

In the mud, they can play, create, or dig to their heart’s content. Our teachers have also set up a mud kitchen, where students can engage in sensory, role-playing, imaginative, math, science, and hands-on exploration activities.

But it’s not just fun—it’s beneficial too. Recent research confirms what kids have always known: playing in the mud is pure joy. Scientists have discovered that mud contains Mycobacterium vaccae, microscopic bacteria that boost the immune system and serotonin levels in our brains, promoting relaxation and calmness.

In short, playing in mud makes us happier!

Rain or shine, our outdoor classroom fosters exploration, curiosity, and open-ended experimentation.
