Fasten Your Seatbelts – Willow is Taking Off!

During a January Morning Circle in Willow, teachers asked students for ideas on what they’d like to create in the pretend play area. After many suggestions, they collectively decided to build an airport and airplane right in their classroom! 

The children happily shared their interests in airplanes and airports, sparking a discussion on their mechanics and functions, particularly focusing on security scanning systems and luggage checks. 

Together with teachers, they designed and constructed a pilot’s cabin complete with a control center, passenger seats, security office, and baggage check system they borrowed from the outdoor classroom! 

Now, Willow boasts its very own airport and airplane, where students role-play as pilots, co-pilots, flight attendants, passengers, and security guards. 

Their play has led to imaginative trips to destinations like Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Paris, and China. 

Recently, they welcomed Pilot Alden, who shared insights into being a pilot and even showed his security badge. Friends were happy to show their airplane and airport to Pilot Alden. Our thanks to Pilot Alden for taking the time to visit friends in Willow!
