Last week, our Grade 6 students headed to Rawhide Ranch in Bonsall for three days and two-nights. This is a one-of-a-kind outdoor learning camp designed to look and feel just like a historic Western town!
At Rawhide Ranch, each student was matched with their very own horse. They learned to ride, groom, feed, and care for their new four-legged partner—lessons that build responsibility and confidence. In addition to working with their horses, students took care of many friendly ranch animals—including goats, sheep, pigs, bunnies, chickens, and even an alpaca!
Students were also given team-building challenges that encouraged cooperation and problem-solving. They practiced vaulting (yes, gymnastics on horseback!), scaled the towering rock wall, and aimed for the bull’s-eye at the archery range. Every activity offered a chance to try something new, stretch comfort zones, and celebrate personal victories.
This meaningful step in our students' development helped them grow in independence, resilience, and self-confidence while strengthening the bonds of friendship.
Rawhide Ranch provided the perfect mix of learning, adventure, and teamwork. The memories made, the friendships strengthened, and the skills gained will carry them far beyond camp and Grade 6. It truly was a fabulous experience for everyone!
