Today, the auditorium was buzzing with excitement as our students brought math to life at the Math Marketplace!
Second graders designed and created their own products, then set up a shop for their peers. With beautifully displayed tables and creative presentations, students showcased a wide variety of items, including handmade candles and soaps, coloring books, tie-dye t-shirts, keychains, painted rocks, and more.
As the marketplace got underway, students eagerly purchased from one another, practicing budgeting, addition, and subtraction in real time. We even saw moments of bartering, adding another layer of problem-solving and negotiation to the experience!
This hands-on event transformed math into a meaningful, real-world application, as students used number sense to make purchasing decisions and ensure accurate transactions.
