Gillispie Preschoolers Hit a Home Run!

Gillispie Preschool Program

Opening Day of baseball arrived, and our preschoolers celebrated in true Padres fashion! Children and teachers came to school proudly wearing their Padres gear, ready to share in the excitement, with one student even bringing his baseball mitt for a day full of baseball fun.

Inside the classroom, a table of Padres memorabilia added to the excitement, sparking conversations as children explored the items and shared what they knew about the game. Throughout the morning, everyone sang along to “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” filling the room with energy and team spirit.

The children were so excited for Padres Day that they created their own baseball-themed artwork. Using yellow paper, they drew everything from SD logos to baseball mitts, adding their own ideas and creativity. The children proudly displayed their artwork around the classroom.

The day ended with a friendly game of T-ball on the big field. Each child had a turn at bat, while others played in the field, cheering on their friends. Just like a real team, preschool friends celebrated every swing, run, and effort! Everyone ended the game feeling proud, energized, and full of Padres pride. It was the perfect way to celebrate Opening Day!

Celebrating Padres Opening Day isn’t just fun. These shared celebrations act as “anchors” in time, marking seasons, transitions, and meaningful experiences, while giving young children a strong sense of belonging and community.
