This year marked an exciting first for Gillispie: the launch of our Yearbook Club! Thirty-three students in Grades 3–6 came together over nine sessions to design and create this year’s book, bringing energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to every step of the process.
Working in student-led teams, they collaborated on themes, concepts, and artwork, presenting ideas and participating in blind votes to guide the final direction. It was truly a joy to hear their ideas and watch them build on one another’s creativity. Our student leaders were especially supportive, encouraging their peers and helping everyone feel included in the process. Throughout, students showed a genuine commitment to their work and to each other, recognizing that every idea had value.
Once the votes were tallied, students whose ideas were not chosen embraced the final direction and helped strengthen it, while the selected team incorporated the ideas of others, allowing the final concept to grow even stronger. It was a pleasure to work with such a thoughtful and collaborative group of students.
The yearbook is now at the printer and will arrive before the end of the school year, with plenty of extra pages for autographs and artistic expression! We are grateful to our students for their creativity and commitment, and to Mrs. Wear and Mr. Lawrence for their support and guidance.
