This week, pre-K students in Sequoia began something exciting—classroom jobs! Every child now has a role each day, and the pride they take in their work has been incredible to see. These jobs may seem small, but together they build responsibility, teamwork, and a strong classroom community where every contribution matters.

Here are their classroom jobs:

  • Greeter – Chooses the morning greeting (handshake, high five, fist bump, or wave) and starts our cheerful “Good Mornings.”
  • Counting Friend – Takes attendance during Morning Meeting.
  • Well Wisher – Holds space for absent friends with our wooden hearts and “We Wish You Well” song.
  • Schedule Helper – Shares the daily plan and any special changes.
  • Bell Ringer – Signals transitions with a chime.
  • Table Monitor & Chair Tucker – Keeps our classroom neat and safe after work time.
  • Leader – Guides our line as we travel around campus.
  • Snack Helper – Distributes water bottles during snack and lunch.
  • Inspector – Checks that everything is tidy at the end of the day.
  • Mail Helper – Delivers artwork, projects, and notes during Closing Circle.

Each of these jobs is essential to our routines, and every morning, students are excited to find out their role. Classroom jobs aren’t just tasks—they’re meaningful opportunities to show responsibility, care for others, and discover the joy of contributing to something bigger than themselves. These daily roles help young learners build confidence, empathy, and a sense of belonging within their classroom community.
