The Magic of Traffic Chaos

Gillispie School

You never know when a learning moment will happen.

Recently, construction crews were working along Fay Avenue. For the adults, it was a necessary inconvenience in order to have well-maintained roads. We wondered: How long will this last? Where can we park? This was traffic chaos.

But for our Maple children? It was a fantastic learning adventure.

From the moment they arrived at school, the very first thing they did was hurry to the fence, where, with eyes wide, they eagerly peeked through, climbed up, and watched every part of the repaving process. They were captivated by the noisy trucks and busy workers. Even on the walk to the classroom, they couldn’t stop talking about the dump trucks, rollers, and all the action happening just steps away.

Their curiosity was so strong that later in the day, they didn’t want to head back inside for naptime!

For our Maple children, a loud, busy, chaotic construction day sparked wonder and excitement! The next time you’re out and about with your little one, take a moment to listen to what captures their attention. Lean in and notice what they notice. Chances are, you’ll never look at road work the same way again!
