Early Childhood Informances Celebrate the Joy of Learning

Gillispie School Early Childhood Informances

Gillispie families and friends gathered for our annual Early Childhood (EC) Informances, where our youngest students sang, moved, and shared their growing musical skills.

Each Informance opened with a welcome song. Children then practiced solfège with hand signs, sang call-and-response songs, kept a steady beat with egg shakers, and explored rhythm and coordination by drumming with sticks and performing together as a group.

A highlight of the Informances came when children and their families danced together using colorful scarves, filling the room with movement, music, and connection. Family participation was encouraged throughout, strengthening our sense of community.

These performances give children in the Littles and Middles classes the opportunity to share the joy of music with their families and build their confidence in presenting in front of others in a supportive environment.

Gillispie’s Early Childhood program includes dedicated music classes led by our gifted Music Teacher Mr. Lewis, who designed these Informances. Music education plays an important role in early childhood development, supporting language, coordination, listening, and social-emotional growth.

Thank you to Mr. Lewis and our Early Childhood teachers for creating such a meaningful experience for our young learners and their families.
