It’s a beloved annual tradition at Gillispie—our graduating Grade 6 students take to the field to challenge their teachers in the much-anticipated Faculty vs. Grade 6 Kickball Game. But this event is more than just a fun, friendly competition. Like all great traditions, it brings us together to celebrate community and the joy of shared experiences.

This year’s game was filled with laughter, cheers, and unforgettable moments. We all loved seeing our Head of School dash to first base, her hat and glasses flying off in the excitement. Who could forget the students shouting, “You’re out!” when one of their classmates struck out Ms. Gersh? And of course, the highlight was when the entire school rushed the field to celebrate the students' victory. The final score was close: 8 to 7 with a win for the Grade 6 students!

What makes this event truly special is how it unites our entire school. Younger students line the sidelines, cheering for their teachers and the soon-to-be graduates, imagining themselves playing in the same game one day.

Traditions like this remind us what makes Gillispie unique: a strong sense of belonging, joyful connection, and the understanding that every milestone deserves recognition. The Grade 6 vs Faculty Kickball Game isn’t just a game—it’s a memory in the making, a way to say goodbye without really saying goodbye.
