Another season of Book Madness has come to an end! This beloved annual tradition, created by Ms. L. in 2019 and inspired by the excitement of March Madness, brings our school community together to celebrate outstanding new books and the joy of reading.
Each year, Ms. L. carefully selects 16 exceptional titles published in the previous calendar year—8 picture books and 8 chapter books—to compete in a bracket-style tournament. Throughout January and February, students are introduced to these books during their library visits, and in March, the competition begins! Students cast their votes in a series of head-to-head matchups.
We are proud to announce this year’s winners, revealed at the April 15 Greeting Meeting:
Picture Book Champion: Don’t Trust Fish by Neil Sharpson & Dan Santat
Chapter Book Champion: The Trouble with Heroes by Kate Messner
This year’s tournament featured an incredible lineup of books. Check them out here!
Book Madness is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of reading, community, and student voice. Thank you to all our students for their participation and to our families for supporting a love of books at home.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s tournament!
