Juniper students were thrilled when Dr. Waters introduced them to Bee-Bots—a fun and friendly way to explore early coding!

Bee-Bots are small, bee-shaped robots designed specifically for young children. Featuring simple directional buttons—forward, backward, left, and right—on their backs, these robots help Pre-K students develop sequencing skills, spatial awareness, and a foundational understanding of programming through hands-on play.

Dr. Waters explained that Bee-Bots “speak their own language” called coding, and it’s our job to give them the right directions. She brought a laminated grid mat and invited students to guide the Bee-Bots through exciting challenges—finding letters, numbers, and themed pictures. The children were especially excited to program paths to Pokémon characters and neighborhood landmarks like a school, hospital, office, and store.

By introducing Bee-Bots in preschool, we’re sparking curiosity and laying the groundwork for critical thinking, collaboration, and early tech literacy. This playful activity blends math, logic, and creativity—making learning both meaningful and memorable.
