Thanks to the wonderful generosity of Gillispie parent, Justin Nadi, we have more cooking spices and baking decorations than we could have ever imagined! And they are beautifully branded with the Gillispie logo. Gillispie students are now cooking and baking out of The Sandbox Kitchen, (and loving it!), and how wonderful that we have so many herbs, spices, and spinkles to choose from. It's smelling good in here...

Sixth graders have been learning about forensics through a simulated crime scene investigation in which gold was stolen from a train. So far, they’ve worked with several different types of forensic evidence, including fingerprints, documents, and soil. While analyzing each others', as well as our fictitious suspects’ fingerprints, they learned to identify general and sub-types of fingerprint categories, as well as how to notice and compare unique identifiers such as “islands”, “type lines”, and “deltas." To analyze a...

Gillispie families love to eat pizza! Especially delicious pizza, like the take-n-bakes made by American Pizza Manufacturing. Thanks to the scores of Gillispie families and faculty/staff that participated, APM told us this was BY FAR the biggest fundraiser they have ever had, and we helped more than triple their revenues for a typical Wednesday evening. Owner/Manager, Andrew, was thrilled by the response, and old wished he could have provided shorter lines. We received terrific feedback and photos from families....

Gillispie parent and VA Hospital Employee, AnneMarie Sachs, helped coordinate the production of student-made cards and reported back to us with this message: "Thanks to the great work of Gillispie students, more...

Willow Room students turned their classroom into a Makerspace of their own! Using the basics of the Design Thinking Model, students brainstormed ideas for gadgets they could make, discussed the materials they could use, sketched out their ideas, and then got to building! They created some amazing contraptions using recycled, everyday materials and loved the process from start to finish. We can't wait to see what these Early Childhood students create one day in our Elementary Makerspace—they are already displaying...
