HoS Update: 7/13/20
Dear Gillispie Families,
Today’s announcement from the San Diego Unified School District that it will not reopen its campuses on August 31 has undoubtedly raised many questions for you.
Currently, at Gillispie, we are moving ahead with our plans to open school on September 1 because we are able to meet current San Diego County and California State safety guidelines. What is of great benefit to us as an independent school is the age of our students, low student/teacher ratios, campus layout, and access to spaces for outdoor classrooms. We are focusing our efforts on on-campus learning with an online option for those families who are not ready to have their children on campus.
In the next few days, you will receive an email from us covering topics that you asked about in the June 30 survey as well as other parts of the plan we feel are important to share. That installment will cover how Gillispie will support on-campus and online learners and the logistics of what the day on campus will look like for your child.
Be well and, as one of my favorite mentors often quipped, let us all “stay calm and carry on.”
We will be in touch,
