Halloween Tips and Thanksgiving Break Information

Hello Families,

We are a day away from students turning into magical creatures, superheroes, inanimate objects, or whatever else their imaginations demand! We will send you a password-protected video of our EC and Elementary Parades so you can view it with your children and enjoy the spirited fun. Here also are helpful tips from the County regarding Halloween.

And, as time flies by, we are almost in November which means planning for our week-long break from November 22-26. As mentioned in August, after school breaks of a week or longer we require all students and employees, regardless of vaccination status, to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 3 days of returning to school.

We have done an amazing job as a community of having no COVID-19 transmission on campus. To continue this trend, there will be no classes on Monday, November 29 so that everyone has an opportunity to be tested before returning to campus on Tuesday, November 30. Results can be from either a lab-processed PCR or an Antigen test (Home test results will not be accepted). Families may opt to have their children PCR tested at Gillispie with UCSD’s EXCITE Lab on Monday, November 29, anytime between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM with no appointment needed. The County’s free testing sites and your children’s pediatricians’ offices are other options.

From everyone here on campus, thank you for doing everything you can at home to keep our students and employees safe and healthy. Your actions reflect resilience and team effort which don’t go unnoticed nor are ever taken for granted.

My very best,

Alison Fleming, Head of School
