Gillispie School Blood Drive is February 12

It has been a decade since Gillispie first rolled up its sleeves and hosted the first blood drive. We had no idea back then that our little community service event would go on to collect 325 pints of blood and donate $16,257.81 to the San Diego Blood Bank.

An event that was organized to support a former Gillispie family affected by childhood leukemia has now turned into our blood drive–a life-saving, annual event that our local community depends on. Over the past ten years, our Gillispie blood donors have saved and improved the lives of newborns, children, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers. The money generously donated through the third-grade bake sale has helped create much-needed improvements to mobile blood drive vehicles.

If donating blood isn’t the right choice for you, we welcome you to support the San Diego Blood Bank by coming on campus to purchase treats at the bake sale on the same day. The bake sale will be open from 7:45 a.m to 4:30 p.m. in the school lobby.
