The Return of International Day!
This month marked the return of a much-loved Gillispie tradition—International Day!
Students grabbed their “passports” and traveled to themed outdoor areas representing Egypt, Tahiti, Brazil, Italy, Australia, and Taiwan.
Parent volunteers and faculty members decorated the campus, wore traditional dress, prepared ethnic foods, and shared interesting facts about different countries from around the world. Students were provided with an opportunity to learn about life outside of our borders.
International Day began as a social studies project, and over the years it has grown into one of the most anticipated days of the year that honors the globally-minded mission of our school. The event was postponed the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so its return had everyone on campus smiling from ear to ear.
Thank you to Jessica Yeagle for her wonderful event coordination and to parent volunteers who helped make this year’s event successful.
