McNeill’s 3-year-old American Bulldog, Albus Dumbledore

Sarah McNeill joins our Early Childhood faculty as the new preschool co-teacher in Juniper Room. She answers some questions about herself below!

What inspired you to work with kids?

  • My grandmother had an in-home daycare and growing up I would spend my summers helping her. Watching the love and patience she had with those babies was so inspirational, she seemed to genuinely be happy and fulfilled every day.

What is your favorite thing/hobby to do outside of school?

  • I love being active and being outdoors, so some of my favorite hobbies include yoga, hiking, and spending time at the beach.

What is your favorite subject to teach?

  • My favorite subject to teach preschoolers is movement! I like to incorporate yoga and dance in my classroom to promote mind and body wellness. The many benefits of young children participating in movement exercises include gaining flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. Having a regular yoga practice can help develop focus and concentration as well as boost self-esteem and confidence.

What is something interesting about you that the Gillispie community wouldn’t know?

  • My husband and I have a spoiled rotten 3-year-old American Bulldog named Albus Dumbledore.
