Financial Aid
December, 2009
Dear Families,
In an effort to offer a quality independent school education to those who might not otherwise be able to afford one, The Gillispie School offers a financial aid program. Since funds for financial aid are limited, it is important for the School to carefully consider each applicant to ensure those with the most need are being served.
This year we will utilize the online service of Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) to process applications. FAST will be the standard submission format for all applications.
FAST does not decide whether financial assistance will be given or how much to give; rather FAST provides a need-based financial aid analysis service which includes a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition. All information from FAST is kept confidential.
The application process is self-guided. You may navigate in and out of the program allowing you to partially complete an application and go back to it at another time. Online e-mail and a 24/7 helpline is provided. Please contact FAST with questions on the application.
The charge for the application is $34.00 and to be paid by credit card at the end of the session. If you do not have a credit card, or cannot budget the fee, please call The Gillispie School Business Manager, Roberta Ganz, for assistance.
After completing the online application, you will be required to mail your 2009 tax returns for both state and federal taxes with all schedules and W-2's to:
FAST Processing
ISM
1316 North Union Street
Wilmington, DE 19806-2594
Including the School's name on the outside of the envelope will ensure faster processing of your application.
The online submission deadline for all applications is January 8, 2010.
Your 2009 tax return must follow the submission, and be postmarked by April 16, 2010.
If you are applying for financial aid for the first time, you will need to submit your 2008 tax returns with all schedules and W-2's to Roberta Ganz by January 8, 2010.
Financial Aid support is limited to a maximum of two children per family.
Applicants who fail to meet the application deadline lose their priority for funding.
Notification of awards will be approximately February 12, 2010.
Families receiving financial aid may also be eligible for receiving before and after school care at no charge.
