FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES

In an effort to offer a quality independent school education to those who might not otherwise be able to afford one, The Gillispie School offers a financial aid program. Since funds for financial aid are limited, it is important for the School to carefully consider each applicant to ensure those with the most need are being served.

The School will be utilizing the online services of School and Student Services (SSS By NAIS) to help us objectively assess what a family is able to contribute to its student’s education expenses. The SSS analysis of a family’s “Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)” is a critical component of our financial aid decision. However, it is just a start. To make our final financial aid award decisions, we use the SSS figures as the baseline for our own additional review, taking into consideration our total financial aid budget, our school’s policies and priorities, and the needs of our entire applicant pool. Due to circumstances like these, and others, our school may ask your family to contribute more or less to tuition than what is estimated on the SSS Family Report.

TO BEGIN THE APPLICATION PROCESS:

  1. Click on the PFS logo above (or go to sss.nais.org/parents).
  2. Click on the “Apply Now” button.
  3. You will set up a PFS Online account using your e-mail address and a password.
  4. Complete the PFS (Parents’ Financial Statement).
  5. All Early Childhood levels should select “PK-Pre Kindergarten” for the grade.
  6. Submit and pay for the PFS ($35). This fee is nonrefundable.

The online submission deadline for all applications is January 17, 2012.

*If you are applying for financial aid for the first time, you will need to submit your 2011 tax return with all schedules and W-2s to Roberta Rosenthal, The Gillispie School Business Manager, by January 17, 2012.

  • Financial Aid support is limited to a maximum of two children per family.
  • Applicants who fail to meet the application deadline lose their priority for funding.
  • All awards are contingent upon receipt of and verification of information on your 2011 income tax returns.
  • Notification of awards will be approximately February 7, 2012.
  • Prior-year recipients of financial aid who have not submitted their 2010 tax return will not be eligible to apply for financial aid until the return is submitted.

Your 2011 tax return must be submitted by April 18, 2012. Returns may be uploaded on the SSS site.

Families receiving financial aid may also be eligible for receiving before and after school care at no charge.
